International Friendship Day

International Friendship Day
Our Friends

A friend is a person whom you can share your own thoughts and feelings with.It is also a person you can trust. If you are in difficulty , you can seek help by asking for a few solutions or their opinion.Friends are the only people in the world whom you won't be scared to talk to.We can trust and frankly speak to them.To me,a good friend should be very outgoing, truthful and helpful.

I have made many good friends since I have entered this school.Frankly speaking, my classmates are my good friends.I really love my class.I have never come across this kind of friendly and helpful bunch of classmates.I really love them.Firstly,I mostly like Bhairavi,Cassandra, Pei Lin and last but not least,Qian Yi.

After school, I hang out with Bhairavi. She is very amazing .You would always feel like talking to her.She will give advices when I'm in trouble. She's very understanding and is damn funny. She always helps me in my computer projects as she's so-called a computer genius like typing works. We'll have lunch together after school while we talk about school that day and about a handful of our kind seniors.

Later we would head to the library to read books or look at our school past year's year books together. We will have fun teasing the teachers and of those times very nerdy and old-fashioned.Both of us also share the same interests. We are actually so-called sisters.I really enjoy being and spending time with her.

World Environment Day

When the temperature hit an average of 20.5°C, it was recorded as the warmest February in Hong Kong for over one hundred years. While beach goers might have baked in the sun four months ago, others may raise questions about the unseasonal temperature’s link to climate change. Extreme weather conditions around the world are getting more frequent as climate change is approaching a critical point and now is the pressing challenge the world faces.

Year 2008 must have been a new water mark in the history of civilization when we saw price of oil hit the U.S. Dollar 147 tag and Al Gore got Nobel Prize for peace --- thanks to his campaign against global warming. Then came 2009, and with it the global financial tsunami --- another man made disaster that came from the collapse of housing bubble. In terms of environmental protection, the financial crisis has a silver lining in it. True, it may have driven our banking system to a near halt, but it did serve to reduce the global carbon emission (in this time of recession) a big way. Most importantly, it helped put Obama into White House, and with him the new ideological shift towards global warming and green energy.

Can we now feel more relived and thus relax in our fight to protect the ecosystem? The answer should be no, not yet. Many of us changed our driving habit because of high gasoline price. That’s good, but not good enough. It’s good to switch to a smaller car, but it’s better if you become a cyclist. There must be a conscious and concerted effort to save the earth by changing our way of life.

Everyone can help save the earth in his own small way. As an apparel designer, we know quality and simplicity save the earth too. You don’t have to dance to the drum beat of New York or Paris; you don’t have to buy each and every instant fashion from Zara and the like. Simplicity and durability help remove mountains of dumped clothes from the planet.

Maybe it’s time to buy less/quantity with more/quality; buy something that lasts longer in use but disappears faster after dump.

We should always do our part to save the world!

Facts from google.

-Racial cohesion/Harmony: .do you enjoy living in multi-ethnic Singapore? Why or why not? .Write about ethnic celebrations

Yes I do enjoy living in multi-ethnic Singapore. In Singapore, people from different ethnic backgrounds and religious groups live peacefully together. Singapore's population is predominantly Chinese comprising about 75% of the total population. The next largest ethnic groups are Malay followed by Indian. Surprisingly, over ten percent of Singapore's population is foreign.

Living amongst the multi-racial diverse background in Singapore, one will get a feel of the different cultures and the various types of upbringing that co-exist and gel firmly in the city state. People from all walks of life, with different social status and varied financial stability all celebrate festivals that are mostly religious, cultural or plainly commemorative in nature here in Singapore.

The main traditional festivals in Singapore are, Lunar New Year,Good Friday, Hari Raya Puasa and Haji, Deepavali and Christmas. During this festive periods, there will be lots of sales and food. Singapore will be busy. Through this, I will be able to learn all kinds of cultures, religions and its beliefs.

I am a proud Singaporean: are you happy to be a Singaporean? Would you ever consider migrating to another country? Why or why not?

I’m proud to be a Singaporean because of many reasons, like the unitedness and faithfulness of the citizens towards serving our nation. All races are able to live together in harmony and the government tries its best to keep riots between the different races to minimum. Singapore is a well-developed and safe country and Singapore is also place where I can proudly announced it is my home. It is a place where my children and the future generations can grow up safe and be taken care of.

Whenever I am overseas these are the reasons I’m proud to show others that I am a Singaporean. I can hold my head up high and announce proudly that I am from Singapore, as it is truly a caring, harmonious and a democratic country. We citizens will come together as one, just like the national day slogan, to make Singapore a better place for living because this is our homeland. This is where we belong.

The government has been attracting foreign workers, especially the highly skilled ones, to work and settle in Singapore. It has also urged Singaporeans to accept these foreigners as one of them. The given reasons being needs these workers to keep the economy growing and to stay competitive in a globalized world. Very valid reasons but the government seems to have overlooked the other part of the equation.
In this globalized era, the world is competing on human resources and talent. The government should, therefore, not only try to attract foreign talents to its shores but also nurture and retain its own talents. SM Goh had recently admitted that Singapore is losing its best and finest. If nothing is being done, the trend is likely to continue as a recent survey showed that half of the youths interviewed wanted to migrate to other countries.

Sports Fiesta

Hi Mdm Tan! It's nice to meet you again. Now I would like to share with you my experience during our school Annual Sports Fiesta at Serangoon Stadium.I first met Bhairavi at the Bus Interchange. Later, we both took a bus to Serangoon Stadium. We both reached there at about 7.15 a.m.The whole stadium was packed up with excitement everywhere.

After a few minutes of chatting my friends, the assembly was held.Later, everybody were allocated to their own house color. As Bhairavi and I were the in the same house,we chatted with each other for the whole day without any disturbances. The Captain,s Ball competition started.Pyros and Terrus competed with each other.I took part in the captain's ball trials representing Hydros. It's a very fun sport where in a team there's 8 players.I supported for Pyros in the captain's ball match and supported for Voltus which was playing against Aroes in the soccer match. In the end Terrus won for the captain's ball match and Voltus won for the soccer match.

I and Bhairavi made a bet over the winning house color at the end of the day.I chose Pyros which was not my house color. She chose Hydros.Later, I took part in the telematch.I was supposed to skip 15 times non-stop.I was a bit nervous then.I tried skipping for a few times. At last the telematch started.I had to wait for my teammate to approach me than only I could start skipping.I started to skip. There was no failures.I was the first person to finish skipping.I was so proud of myself. The telematch ended.Hydros came in 2nd.I was quite happy for that.My whole team got a trophy each.

After that it was the track and field.I supported for my house members sincerely and loudly.I and Bhairavi chit-chatted with each other about which house was about to win.At last it was the prize giving.Later it was the announcement of the results.I cheered as loud as I could for Pyros. Aeros got the last position and Hydros got the 3rd position.Eventually,as I thought Pyros was the champion.Hhahahahahaha.Bhairavi was so sad.Don't cry,Don't cry.It was the best day ever.Yeah.
